Permission to leave

BM has asked for permission for leave to apply for revoke of a placement order. We understand a hearing will take place. Does anyone have any experience of what happens in these hearings. SW stated this happens a lot now. Just waiting for court date now. We were due to meet LO next week but that’s all on hold now. I don’t think there has been any changes since the judgement towards end of last year as there were a lot of issues raised. Obviously very worried about whether we ever meet LO.

I’m sorry to hear you are going through this uncertainty and anxiety. We had this happen during the matching process with our little one.
I can only speak from our experience but in our situation leave to appeal wasn’t given to the BP, but at the time because it was during early covid there were lots of court delays and other complications. It meant that from being matched to our LO meeting us/and moving to us it took 6 months - but this was really exceptional I think and because of lockdowns and court closures (so it kept getting adjourned). What helped me a bit at the time was being told that it would be really important to know in future that things had been done thoroughly by the courts. In our case, a judge also took seriously the delays it all caused and then finally speeded things up.
Have you had your matching panel yet? After we had this we were allowed to have some video calls with the foster carers (but not with our LO there) and that also helped with the waiting.
If there is no change in circumstances then it sounds like it will be ok, but I really understand and relate to how it feels to be in the middle of it all.

Yeah we have been approved and matched at panel. We can’t do anything video calls bump ins. Just left us to it to be honest just wait for the courts this was just over 2 weeks ago. If they do get leave to appeal then that will delay it further and if they go down reassessment we would seriously need to walk away due to our mental health as painful as that would be. The anxiety is really bad and the thoughts running around your mind.
