Returning to work

Hi, complicated one but if someone could help I'd be grateful. I work two jobs amd have been on adoption lave with smp from both jobs since July. Company A is my main employer but I work part time for Company B. Company B is being taken over by Company A in April (which is when I was planning on returning to B) and after the 3 months compulsory i am going to resign. I am returning to work my main job in Company A in July and staying there. Any ideas on how this will work? SMP for both jobs ends in April. Should I return to work at B earlier than I'd planned? I dont want to return to my main job earlier than July. As i said, complicated. If you were able to follow that, and have some advice, thanks x

It is a bit complicated I guess. Will your job with Company B continue to be a separate role after they take over company B or would they try to combine both jobs into one contract? If they keep both jobs separate I assume it's just a case of returning as planned in April and then returning to your main role in July, after resigning the Company B job (albeit you'll actually submit the resignation to Company A post take over). If they plan to merge both jobs into one contract it may be more complicated.

Do either company know your plans at this stage, eg to give up the role with Company B and retain your role with Company A in July? It might be worth having a chat with HR just to see where you stand. I assume your job role in Company B will be subject to TUPE arrangements, which can complicate things. A lot depends on how the structure of the organisation, and your roles within in, will look after April.

Thanks for your reply. I have no idea re merging contracts. Both jobs are in completely different sectors and have nothing to do with each other. Both line managers in both jobs know I'm planning on leaving company B but I haven't spoken to HR about it. I do have a meeting with company B's HR dept coming up to discuss KIT days so could ask then and I've emailed the union to ask their opinion on the situation so just waiting to hear back from them (same union for both jobs).
