Recommended books on attachment

(I'm in Singapore). My friend is adopting an 18 month old. She's already adopted a 3 month old so not totally "new" to this, but the little boy she's adopting has been in foster care since birth. You're pretty much left to get on with here and do your own preparation/research, so can anyone recommend any specific books on attachment? I recall seeing Kewcumber say something about having to regress her DS (i.e. go back to bottle feedings etc) but I'm not sure of the details.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, it wasn't so much that I had to but I felt I wanted to and I'm sure it helped us. I got most of my advice from the course I went on but will have a look at the reading list for you.

If he's been in the same foster care since birth he may not have many/any attachement issues so it will just be a case of transferring attachmwent to her IYWIM. Not sure I would get a 18 month old back onto a bottle (unless they were happy with it and perhaps only at bedtime) as they might be quite resistent.

this book is often recommended but I haven't read it myself

Thanks. I've got that one, so I'll lend it to her.

I think it's the same foster carer. My friend had some contact with this boy about 6 months ago as her existing daughter was fostered by the same person, so hopefully not too big a job!

(Just had a look at your blog and see you've updated it. Got all dewy-eyed all over again. I like the idea of our "family birthday"!)
