Presents for new adoptees?

My wonderful friend has found out she is adopting a 1 year old boy.

I'd like to buy her and her husband a gift and am looking for recommendations of useful books / thoughtful gifts? I'd thought about a scrapbook for their first year together and was just hoping for some inspirational ideas!!

Are you thinking of gifts specifically for them or for the boy too? For the adults maybe something like a monthly treat subscription box? Often you can get three month subscriptions for chocolates or other yummy treats or even flowers. If you are worried that they may already have a scrapbook then how about a box/chest/suitcase to put things in as he grows?
Or a nice outfit for him? Or vouchers for a place that does nice clothes of you don't feel you can pick. I word of warning about getting anything with his name on it, while rare these days, they may opt to change his name or the spelling.

For him specifically, anything you would get a one year old would probably do.
