Travelling with adopted children (post-adoption order)

We’re travelling abroad via plane with our adopted children. The adoption order was approved some years ago, and we do have passports with their new surnames. When travelling, can we just take the passports (without the adoption certificates)? Thanks

We’re a gay couple, hence the question.

We have taken all our adopted children abroad and it never occurred to us to take adoption certificates. It was fine.
Have a lovely holiday.

Gay adopters here too. We had no issues with just the passports although we only went to Spain. I took pictures of the their adoption certificate on my phone so I could show it if necessary but wasn't a problem. Have a great holiday!

I always take a copy of my sons adoption order, I adopted him as a lone Dad, when flying with him I have been asked if the other parent has given permission as people assumed I was a single parent, so I needed to show his adoption certificate to travel.

I’m in Canada at the moment, our daughters adoption certificate isn’t here yet, so her passport is in her old name, we have a letter from her SW. interestingly passport control didn’t ask anything about her despite her different surname, but they did ask about my son (who shares mine and my now husbands surname) so I had to show his adoption certificate. This was on arrival in Canada, I’ve never been asked leaving or entering the UK.

Enjoy your holiday

We’ve never been asked for this either. You just need passports (we’re a two mum family)

@JohnPA we have only travelled within Europe, but passports have been fine. 2 mum family here.

@Moazalrazj can I suggest that you make your own thread? This response is somewhat off topic to the one OP outlined. You sound like you are seeking mental health support and validation for some very personal issues., which is not what this thread is about.

You need to start your own thread in an appropriate area, you’re an adult, this thread is specifically for the parents of adopted children.
