Hello!

First time posting here. We are very early in the process, DBS / medical forms sent off, training booked in for next month etc.

We found out 2 weeks ago that my Dad has cancer. Everyone is fine and he is in for surgery this week to have it removed, small round of chemo after and (hopefully) all done.

I havent told our case worker yet and i am concerned that if i do they will put the application on hold. After 3 failed IVF rounds and a wait to get our application in, the last thing i want is anything to be delayed.

My dad has a big support network and isnt depending on me for anything so my main focus is the adoption still.

Do you think at this early stage they would make us stop or will they be okay??

Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your dad x

I attended a webinar last month an an adopter spoke about her support network getting cancer, I'm sure it was her mum or sister, however they decided to continue the process as they had the attitude in life bad things happen and I believe the agency were very supportive.

However all are different but I hope they listen to your wishes xx

I think it would be OK. They might be more concerned if one of your parents were seriously ill just before placing a child. Though that said, we were approached about a match the day after FIL passed away (we said no, bad timing being one of the reasons).
