wonder if anyone can help?
My DS1 is from a former relationship which ended when he was one years old. He is now 9. He has never had a stable relationship with his father and he was always let down from a young age. I would always have to force his father to see him to try and keep the relationship going, I would always stress the importance of being a stable figure in his life but he never was. After many years of struggling and a lot of absent periods where we would hear nothing from him, we went to court. The courts were reluctant to give him any visitation however I stressed that I wanted my son to have a father figure so we had an agreement made that was to ensure he spent 2 hours a week with him.
THIS NEVER HAPPENED!
The day after I was informed by social services and my local police that he was currently on bail as a sex offender. So the contact never went ahead.
he went to prison for 2 years and came out a few months ago and hasn’t even asked how he is.
he now has not seen him since he was 4/5 and even then it was once or twice.
I’ve since got married and had another little boy. We are a very happy family and my DS1 has always looked at my husband as his father. He has asked many times for him to adopt him.
I would love to be able to do this for my DS1, and we are due to have our first home visit tomorrow from the social worker.
do you think we stand a good chance at the adoption?
has anyone else been through step parent adoption with a similar case to mine?
