Adoption support fund

We have asked for some post adoption support for our AS5 and had an initial call with them today. It sounds like we're going to be offered play therapy but we need to have an assessment. Just wanted to here other experiences of utilising the adoption support fund and how long the process took. Thanks

It took about a month from the SW submitting the application for the go ahead to arrive.
However, you are currently near the end of the financial year, which may impact. We are hoping the new funding arrives in time for DD not to have a break in her therapy over and above the Easter break.

I insisted on an assessment and applied to the ASF for an assessment. I didn’t want a social worker to pluck a random therapy out of the air and offer it to us. I wanted a mental health professional to assess DD and recommend the best course of action.

That’s what happened and we’ve just applied again for the therapy they recommended.

Our form went in mid February. We’ve been told it will take about 6 weeks to process. Everything is in place for an assessment with Family Futures - hoping it won’t be too long now.
