Step child adoption

Hi all,

Looking for some advise. I have a DD6 from a previous relationship, currently I’m the only one on the birth certificate as her bio father wasn’t interested/never met her.

I’ve been with my DH since DD was 2 (we got married last year) and we are pregnant with DC2. DD calls him dad through her own choice and he would like to adopt her. We are trying to contact solicitors to start the ball rolling.

Has anyone else been through this process? Is it fairly straightforward if I’m the only one on her birth certificate, will I have to contact her bio dad (not that I would know how to), how long does the process usually take? I can’t seem to find anything straightforward online and was hoping someone has been through the same?
