We have just moved onto stage two with our LA who are hoping to place us quickly within borough. Anyways, we are keen on a sibling group but our SW has told us there aren’t many available and ‘no one knows why’. Has anyone else heard this or is it nonsense? Haha.

As far as I know about half of the children waiting to be Adopted are in sibling groups. Forgive me if that's incorrect.

I wonder if your SW is just talking about your LA that you are being assessed in.... An LA/RAA will be very keen for you to adopt 'their' children as it's a lot cheaper than having to pay an Agency for Adopters from somewhere else.

Unless the rules have changed due to the Pandemic after 3x months of being in a LA or RAA Agency you can sign up to Linkmaker which has profiles of children nationally who are waiting for Adoption.

I was Family Finding 18 months or so ago so things may have changed..

Our RA has loads of sibling groups. They are very keen on us considering taking 2, which we are. As above I think it's probably just that they dont have siblings at the moment. Youre saying you just moved onto stage 2 so you never know who may come up. This could all be different by the time youre approved!

well the children who are looking for new families at any one time are just that, the children who are waiting at that time. It changes all the constantly as children move in and out of the system.

I don't think that an individual SW would know particularly why - it could be any number of reasons, delays in courts, people just not having babies, wouldn't it be lovely if it was because fewer children need removing from their families.
If you when you are approved there are no siblings in your LA, then you wait, or look wider.
I woudn't be worrying about it at this stage

Thank you all for the advice Star I’m not so much worried as wondering if she said it to test my reaction so to speak!
