Adoption allowance

Hoping someone can confirm. We have just been awarded an adoption allowance by our LA due to changes in circumstances all round for us and the children. Am I right in thinking this does not need to be declared for Universal Credit? The allowance is means tested and will be reviewed annually.
Thanks

No you don't have to declare it. Its technically the child's income.

@Ted27 thanks so much for that. Didn't think we did but wanted to double check! Amazed we got one at all! It's been a battle!

Well I've never declared mine, haven't caught up with me yet !
Are you getting DLA? Declare that, - it may enhance UC, it made a big difference to tax credits

Yep DLA declared and made a difference as one of ours gets high rate care which increased our UC. And husband gets carers part of UC for eldest too. It's a minefield!
Does yours get reviewed annually by LA?

yes its means tested and reviewed each year. We have an agreement that it will be in place until he is 18 or 21, so at whatever point he leaves full time education, which might be next year

Hi there I’ve been looking for advice on this and your thread came up although few years ago now! Is this still the case for adoption allowance and UC as I’ve seen different things online and very confused. Many thanks

Look up welfare support payments under UC. Should help explain it.
We just had our UC review and had to provide 5 years of bank statements and they never mentioned it!
