Adopting with diabetes

Hiya folks, I'm new here and I am looking to start the adoption process next year.
I experienced gestational diabetes in my last 2 pregnancies and that will put me more at risk of type 2 long term.
I've recently been tested and I'm preparing myself for worst case scenario, even though I feel absolutely fine.
Anyway would type 2 rule me out, does anyone know? Thanks, bat x

No diabetes, or any other illness would not automatically rule you out of adoption but they want to know that its controlled and manageable and what measures you would have in place incase you were unwell. I would wait till you have confirmation and a treatment plan in place and then contact an agency to discuss it.

Thank you so much, I'm just putting as many things in place before I go to an agency! Thank you x

I have type one diabetes and I’m a parent through adoption, a chronic health condition won’t prevent you adopting, you would just need to show your condition is well managed, so it could potentially delay the process a little.

Thank you so much for replying.

I found out today I wasn't, I was convinced after gestational diabetes with my last 2 babies I'd definitely have it, I feel all sorts of relief.

Thanks so much for replying, I'm at a stage where I'm excited to apply but not ready just yet 😅
