So we have sw coming next week and it feels like this is really starting to happen.
I've read a couple of books and listened to the adoption podcast, as well as reading here and other forums and following a few adopters on social media.

Just wondered if anyone had any "must reads" they could recommend. Or things I can be doing proactively.

Have you joined Adoption UK? Ive found them brilliant and they have such a huge range of really useful webinars and do regular meet ups for peer support, its brilliant. And loads of great books to read, Sally Donovan No Matter What is really well written. Id just read anything you can theres so much. And to log it down - like start making a list of your research and on each abit of reflection, like what youve learned, your thoughts etc, start a learning log that you can refer back to easily its really helpful.

"First Steps in Parenting the Child who Hurts" (Caroline Archer) and "The A-Z of Therapeutic Parents" (Sarah Naish) were two really good ones, and we still dip into both from time to time. I also found "The Adoption" Radio 4 podcast and "15,000 Kids and Counting" documentary (available on YouTube) to be useful if you need a break from reading.

We've listened to the Two Good Mum's podcast which is about one child's adoptive and birth mum telling the same story from two views.
