Adoption order granted!

Our adoption order has been granted! Just beyond happy after a few uncertain months with contesting! We are aware that BM can still contest for the next 28 days though? Would any body be able to shed some light on what our next steps are regarding birth certificate, NHS number etc?

We have our last social worker visits happening in the next week or so.

They don't get a NI until shortly before they are 16.

New NHS number happens automatically.

Adoption certificate (like a birth certificate) happens automatically, though when we did it we had to pay extra for a long form one but that was years ago so i don't know if that has changed.
(Short form - just gives child & place of birth, long form names you as parents)

I loved that we got a brand new birth certificate for dd once the adoption order was granted. You will too. It’s only something little, but we thought that it was really significant. Like a pp said, order the long version.

Congratulations! Like someone else said the NHS number changes automatically but they won't necessarily write to you to tell you! We found out LO's new number by doing the "find my NHS number" on the NHS website a few months after the adoption order was granted. Adoption certificate etc is all quite straight forward - they send you clear instructions. Enjoy the next few days! Such a happy happy time!x
