How new is the adoption? Could you be suffering from post adoption depression? If your child has newly started school then that could be the cause of your sadness.

Look for a job that gives you a sense of fulfillment. In the meantime why not volunteer at a place that would interest you and help to ease you back into working. Gardening/animal rescue place/ office for a charity or some nursery or school/hospital visiting etc. These would look good on CV(one not all!!) And give you the company you crave.

If the feelings persist speak to your GP. I Amin a low dose of Sertraline and it is working brilliantly.
