Matching time from initial approval

Hi guys

I wondered if there was anyone out there who could tell me about their story in terms of how long matching took after stage 2 approval for those who have adopted recently.

I'm just wondering what's a good average following the pandemic

I've got approval panel in November and wondering what the likelihood of being matched and moved in by this time next year is x (we are single child adopters so realise this might be slower!) But any of your recent stories would be a huge help x

Well...we were approved this time last year and we are still waiting. We have had an absolute nightmare though with multiple matches falling through due to covid and courts and things beyond our control, so I'm sure we are the odd ones out.

Sorry, I know that won't be what you wanted to hear but we were told all along that we would have a match and a child home in no time (and we have a very wide criteria) and have found this sadly untrue.

I'm so sorry to hear that. It must be so hard. You must be so frustrated.

This was my worry - I had no idea it was taking so long and now it's becoming abundantly clear that we could still be here this time next year and longer. Which will mark 8 years since we decided to start a family - not sure how many more delays I can take

Unfortunately the answer is how long is a piece of string!

We were approved last October and have stayed in touch with everyone on our training course. We brought out little one home in April this year and another couple brought their little one home in May.

One couple were matched within a few weeks of approval panel but the match fell through and they’ve only just been linked and the other couple are still waiting for a match. I also know if people who’ve now been approved since early last year and still waiting.

I found the waiting to be matched following approval so frustrating as it felt like everything was on hold, we didn’t want to plan anything “just in case” and no one can tell you how long you’ll be waiting.

We were approved in January with a child already linked. Matching panel was April and our child moved in a few weeks later. Hope it goes well for you. The waiting and uncertainty is hard.

We were approved mid July and we found out today we're the only family being looked at for a potential match 🤞🤞

We were approved June 2020, matched in February 2021 and they were home in April.

Matching felt like forever. We had a few matches fall through which were so devastating at the time. However, now we are happier than we ever thought we could be!

We were approved in December 2019 and matched the following April. LO came home in the July

I’m not as far in the process as you but the agency has said that they expect things to start picking up soon with regards to court orders etc. But still said it would likely be a year to match or longer. But who knows.
