Adoption from abroad experiences

Hi, I'm still in the research phase of adoption and was wondering if anyone has adopted from outside the UK and if so could you please share your experiences? Is the process very different, what about costs and legal requirements etc?

I have a 5 year old BC. Thank you in advance.

@Cheeseandchutney

the icacentre.org.uk is a good place to start

You would have to be assessed by your LA, for which you have to pay. There will be other costs in the country from which you are adopting.

These costs are significant, I’ve heard 30k quoted by previous posters.
You would need to factor in spending time in the home country. I think waiting lists are long, I can’t imagine that Covid is helping.

The question is always "why?" Why adopt from abroad when we have domestic adoption?

Why not? I'm researching all options before I go ahead with anything.

Why not? Because it's complex, means a child moves country (against the UN rights of the child), expensive, there are children waiting here.
