Stage 2

Hi,
I am hoping someone can advise us, we are in the process of going through stage 2. During stage 1 we were completely open about our situation and have covered everything in detail.
We have been allocated a new SW who seems to have an issue with something that we have disclosed since the initial phone call.
Does anyone know if it is possible to request a change of SW or is stage 2 about being extremely strict and filtering couples out of the process?
Your help is much appreciated with this Smile

If you think the relationship with the SW has broken down, yes you can request a replacement.
However, SWs really hate finding out about significant issues once your assessment is underway.
I disclosed something after several weeks, there was no intention to deceive, in my thoughts I just hadnt found the opportunity. In the end I just had to blurt it out at the start of a meeting which was exactly what I had been trying to avoid. I had a very good relationship with my SW which was damaged and took a long tinne to win back that trust.

If its something very significant then think about how it looks to the SW. Apologise, and try and get it back on track

Thank you for your reply, this is where we are struggling. We have been very open about this from the initial call and have asked if this would prevent us from moving forward at every opportunity, to which we have been told not at all and that everyone can see what we have done to put this right.

Our original SW asked us for some additional details during stage 1 and this was brought up as being positive in our review.

It is possible for prospective adopters to be turned down in stage 2? We are a bit in limbo and don’t know where we stand now?

Thank you for your advice, much appreciated.

Yes it is possible for an SW to decide not to take you to panel, but its rare.

I think if I were you I would tackle it head on, email your SW so you have evidence, , explain what happened, you were told it was OK but now there seems to be an issue, you are confused, could you meet to discuss and hopefully sort it out.
If you don’t get anywhere contact the manager
If all else fails, remember they aren’t the only agency

Thank you, we are hoping it gets resolved and that we won’t have to look at other agencies.

We really appreciate your response, thank you 😊
