Adoption Stage 1

Hi,

We are going through the adoption process and have our stage 1 review shortly and wondering if anyone is willing to share their experiences? We are not sure what to expect and if we find out on the day if we will be taken forward to stage 2?

Stage 1 for me was literally a paper exercise. A lot of checks DBS, health etc. I did find the training sessions very informative around their early life experiences and it helped me to be more realistic around additional factors which would influence a match between me and my future child

It was a lot more informal than I was expecting. They just go over your stage one work and told us they have to type up a report to be signed off by their manager. But we asked for an indication as to whether we’d be taken forward or not
and they gave us one. Good luck x

Not sure if this is always the case, but I would have said typically if they took you on at stage 1, they would be taking you forwards to stage 2 - unless of course any deal breaking things happened in stage 1 (smoking for example) Good luck!

Our SW has requested a prep meeting before the review, which I guess is normal procedure? Hoping this will give us clarity on what to expect from the meeting 😊
