First hearing is scheduled for next week and was just wondering how you found out the outcome of it? Do they call or write to you? How long does it take?

Our social worker rang us straight after

Mine was a fairly straightforward one where BPs didn't show or contest so went though first time (helps to be aware that's not normal and very typical to have a few hearings) but my social worker called almost immediately after

PaintedLadyWBB · 18/06/2021 08:23

Agreed. We were also very lucky because BPs didn't show so order was granted there and then but as above, it's quite unusual so do prepare yourself for it to be long and drawn out

SFCA · 18/06/2021 09:54

Ours was a long drawn out one, we had one hearing where we all thought the order would be granted but it wasn’t, we got there in the end though!

Everyone was really good at keeping in touch though and often the adoption SW, our son’s SW and the guardian called after the hearing to let us know what happened!

Good luck

I’ve got my first one next week! The SW is going to ring me when he’s finished. It’s not going to be contested (the BM has written to the judge saying she wants me to adopt her/my son) so hopefully it will be smooth sailing. And then the next court date is a month or so later I think. Good luck!

Yes, our SW called us as soon as practical (7pm beccause of an emergency) and told us. I expect it'll be the same.

Unfortunately, it looks like ours will not be straight forward, but so it goes.

Thanks everyone. Neither our social worker nor LO's attended the hearing but I rang the court the following day and they told us that birth mum has not contested. Hopefully it should be straight forward from here!

Hi, we have just sent our application off. How long was the wait until you had a date for first hearing xx

estornudar · 04/07/2021 23:03

We submitted our paperwork at the start of April and the first directions hearing was at the end of June. I can't remember exactly but I think we got the letter from the court informing us of the date about four weeks after submitting the paperwork. We've just had the date for our final hearing which came through very quickly after the first- we should be done and dusted in three weeks! I hope it all goes well for you xx

Hi Estornudar

That's really quick isnt it considering covid19 and courts are supposedly back logged. I hope it's that quick for me xx
