Got confirmation we've completed stage 1 and are moving to stage 2 today 😁

And also got a provisional approval panel date - 14th july

Congratulations. How was stage 1 for you?

Congratulations! So good that you have a provisional panel date, which is something that you can work towards and look forward to. Stage 2 is more stressful than stage 1. Be prepared to open up about your life to a stranger, to be questioned and have to explore difficult situations that you went through with them, and also be prepared to be challenged. You need to demonstrate patience, flexibility, proactiveness and resilience throughout stage 2. Your social worker might tell you things that you don’t necessarily agree with or like, to test how you react. She might also ask you to do things which you might not see the point to. For example, even though we both had some childcare experience we were asked by our social worker to obtain more and we volunteered as a couple with children with special needs for about 6 months. You also need to brace yourself for delays and administrative chaos, so that you avoid feeling disappointed when things don’t happened as planned or as efficiently as you would like. However, all of this will be worth it once you adopt.

Good luck!

Not too bad actually, seemed to go really quickly 😀 we've been doing lots of reading and research alongside the training and we've attended loads of the adoption UK webinars too.

July doesn't seem too far away at all which is a little scary actually 😂

Thanks we had heard it could be intense ☺️ I think we're prepared for it though

Just got the email that I am through to stage 2. Whew my heart has been racing. I am so excited

I was thinking about this thread recently, as we just moved into Stage 2 as well! Like @claireb7rg our panel is provisionally set for the middle of July, which seems very soon, after absolutely months of waiting. Though we have a potential setback already as I am currently suffering with long COVID, so that may well delay things.

@sabzino that's fab that you are through to stage 2 as well! We have now had 2 meetings with our social worker (who is lovely), and she has already seen me cry!

claireb7rg · 10/04/2021 10:23

We had our first home visit with social worker on Thursday, think it went well 😁 got the next 6 booked in now as well
