Myself and partner just started adoption process but because of our remote location the only way we can adopt is through our local council who have advised no babies and prob only children above age 5, we want a family, yeah kinda hoped for baby or toddler but be grateful to give a child a loving home regardless but just wondering if anyone else was told the same but then this changed and was able to get a younger child?

the LA are telling you about the children they currently have looking for families. That could look very different by the time you are approved and looking for a match.
Age is only one factor in matching, if there are no children that are suitable for you, then after a few months you will be able to look nationally.
So yes, there is a chance that you could be matched with a younger child

You may wish to consider foster to adopt as babies tend to be placed through that process.

I would look into Foster to Adopt and if you are willing to wait then you don't have to say yes to the older children. When we started our second assessment they told us there were "a lot of babies" but there wasn't by the time we were approved so we were happy to wait.

We were approved foster to adopt both times we have adopted but first LO was 7 months and traditional adoption and second LO was 12 months F2A.
