We have our matching panel date at the beginning of January. For anyone who has been through this interview, can you advise the sorts of questions asked please?

Congratulations, your social worker should alert you to anything specific to you that might come up. At ours we were asked why these children and how we might meet their needs. It was very low key, given they were effectively making me a parent - the panel had known our kids through the LAC review process and you could just see how happy they were to see the kids settled. It was much less scary than you’d think.

Good luck! Our matching panel is at the start of January as well so following with interest!

As Jellycatspyjamas says it is much less scary than what you think.

How did you decide that ...... was the right child for you?

Have you had a chance to receive all the information you need about ........ and discuss their background and needs?

We were also asked about how would we cope with anxiety and stresses that come with becoming a parent.

We were also asked about our support network and how would they recognise if we were struggling and what support can they offer.

This is purely our experience and because of Covid we were lucky to have the questions the day before so we had time to plan.

Not all questions that we received will be relevant for you. Ours were based a lot around anxiety as there is history of it for us. The question about why do you think it’s a good match is a pretty standard question. It seems everyone gets asked that one.
