First social worker meeting!

So after the drama a couple of weeks ago, in which I posted on here and got great support, we have been linked with a baby who seems perfect for us! We read her CPR and saw photos last night! We have our initial meeting with her social worker in a couple of days, what are they likely to ask us?
Thanks again for all your help and support!

For us that meeting was a chance for the child's SW to put a face to our names, to ask us about anything they were unsure of from our CPR. We also asked some questions about our now son and they looked around our house (pre COVID! obviously!) We got to ask more questions when the match was agreed and we met the Foster Carer, our son's SW was able to talk about him and bring him to life for us which was great. It helped us to get more of a sense of him rather than paperwork. Good Luck!

Exciting times for you! We just had a linking meeting and it basically run as:

  • SW told us all about baby, birth parents and why the child is being adopted
  • current progress in foster care
  • discussion on points in CPR
  • Us
  • why are we interested in this child
  • what concerns do we have and what we might do to overcome them
  • questions
  • they had a quick tour of house

It was really casual and despite feeling really nervous at first we were quickly just chatting and it was really informative and helped us make our decision.

Best of luck!! Let us know how it goes
