Reading your PAR

How long before panel did you get to read and check your PAR? Our SW has submitted ours for QA and our panel is in less than two weeks but we haven't had a copy to read yet.

We really like our SW and she has seemed competent and engaged during the whole process but she did show me one section of the report on our last visit and it had some inaccuracies that concerned me. I didn't sweat it as I was told we'd get to read and check the PAR but now I'm worried it is too late and we're left with an inaccurate PAR.

Did anyone else receive their PAR really late in the day?

Hi we just had panel two weeks ago, we were given our PAR about 4 weeks before, I'm not sure what's normal though

Hi, we had drafts of our PAR to read throughout the whole of stage 2 (when our SW finished one of the sections we were encouraged to check it). We got a final version about 4 weeks before, we had to return it about 3 weeks before our panel date.

I'm not sure what 'normal' is though either.
Best of luck for panel when it comes Smile

We got ours less than a week before panel and was emailing changes through the night before it had to be submitted. It was very stressful!

Hoping you get yours soon and have the opportunity to read through it.

Our panel is on 13th Oct and had a message from our SW yesterday saying she would send our PAR over today for us to read over the weekend. Still waiting for it to be sent over though ...

Thanks for replies, that's making me feel a lot better. Hopefully we will get ours soon then!

Can’t remember how long but it was a very tight turnaround!

We got ours 3 weeks before panel but essentially had only a couple of days to make comments for changes to be made in time. We had to sign it off 2 weeks beforehand (literally send a scan of the page we'd signed saying we agreed with it all and it could be submitted). I'd chase it if I were you. Also, although our original PAR did include inaccuracies, none were so awful that they would have made a difference (e.g. my parents were described as having well-off families/upbringings, when in fact they were from well-educated families but had relatively poor upbringings which then influenced their life choices for me and my siblings). I was glad we were able to correct the inaccuracies anyway.

Jellycatspyjamas · 26/09/2020 13:45

I’d chase it up too, just in case it’s sitting in admin and the social worker thinks you’ve had it. I know where I am things are taking a while to get done because of reduced admin support so it’s worth checking.

DeegeeDee · 27/09/2020 07:10

I would chase as others have said.

Your PAR is a part of the pack the panel will read and they have to have it within a certain of days before the panel - the service level agreement signed up to by the LA. You will be required to sign that it's a true reflection of your conversations so any inaccuracies are sorted. Stressful times ahead as their deadlines get shorter so get on front of it and find out.

And best of luck at your panel (and for others who have them coming up soon x)

I found reading the PAR quite uncomfortable. I didn't bother to correct minor inaccuracies that didn't affect the placement of a child, but in retrospect think I probably should have done. Good luck at panel.
