A quick question about 'ages'

Hi there, new to posting in here, but adoption is a big consideration for me and my partner atm. I was hoping to attend an open evening this month but alas that's obviously not happening.
Firstly I wanted to know about where my age might lead things, I'm 44 my partner is nearly 36. He has a 4 year old child from a previous relationship.
Are matches made regarding possible siblings age? Or would my age give us a restricted age bracket for possibly adopting?
Or are there no set rules on this?
Many thanks in advance x

The only "rule" is that age child must be 2 years younger than any exsisting children in the family. So assuming your partners son will be 5 by the time you adopt, you will be approved for a child aged 3 or under. They won't care about your age. 60 yr olds might not be matched with 2 yr olds on the basis that it is a bit unfair on the child, but no rules as such.

Ah that is so helpful to know @Teacher12345 thank you very much x

Even that is not a rule. DD2 is about 18 months younger than DD1. That said, the gap between your adopted child and your birth child will be a key consideration and the 2 year thing is strongly the norm.

Once you pass 50 it can be increasingly harder to be matched with younger children. I've never heard of an LA where women of your age would have any issue.

You get approved for a particular age range- probably better to leave that fairly broad unless you are very sure what you want. We were approved for 0-4 although we were pretty sure we wanted a baby.

Thank you. Yes that would be ok as an age range.

My dh is 56 and I am 55 with a 5 yr old ! So you are fine at your age. It won't be an issue .
