Birth parent notice of adoption hearing

Hi there - we have our first adoption hearing in mid January. We understand the birth parents don’t want to contest , but obviously need to be advised that the hearing is taking place. The social workers are being really slow to send them notice of the hearing which is frustrating. Is there a statutory minimum notice the birth parents must receive of the initial adoption hearing ? Thanks so much

I believe it is 14 days

Many thanks. This makes sense. When my husband called the court they said there was a statutory minimum, but they like to give 4 weeks. I think he’s confused the two and didn’t confirm what the statutory minimum was 🙄

I actually got notice of the hearing the day before it was due. :/ Luckily, for the adopters at least I wasn't contesting but it was like a gut punch.

I bet it was horrific darkriver, I’m so sorry to hear you were treated so badly.

The birth parents want this process over with as much as we do as they need closure. Unfortunately social services have not been great this time round

It was upsetting. It might have been the one to ask if I was contesting (I can't remember)

I had been pretty accepting of the process (well you know what I mean) until that point but social services seemed to drag it out.
