What is a chemistry meeting? I have never heard of this! Are you actually meeting the baby and is the purpose as the name would suggest to see if you feel chemistry and connection? If so, I find this very strange. You are unlikely to feel connection in first meeting. You will likely find it very cute and want to protect it as I think you would any small baby but nothing more. It is more important at this stage that you take time to fully understand the child’s profile and potential issues that may arise in the future. That way you can make an informed decision as to whether the child is a good match for your family long term. Good luck!

I would agree at this stage it’s much more head than heart - who gets to decide the chemistry is “right”. Can you say a bit more about the purpose of the meeting?

I have to do this too. I'm with my local LA and I've expressed interest in a child (2 year old) in another part of the country. They've asked me to meet him at a play date morning to see how I interact with him before they move forward. They've also asked other people interested in him to do it too. If I wasn't interested in him I'd refuse to do it.

I think this is becoming more common. We were asked to come and meet our son at an activity day before the link could proceed. I'm so glad we did as it really brought his profile to life.

Just focus on the practical, can you cope with potential issues, etc.

I had very little chemistry with birth dd. But love her to bits. Felt a real connection to adopted ds's profile even without photo. And love him to bits.

Good luck with the meeting. Hope things go well. Flowers

If so, I find this very strange. You are unlikely to feel connection in first meeting.

We met DD1 at an activity day. There was an instant chemistry, far more than any other child we'd met. I agree completely with this...

It is more important at this stage that you take time to fully understand the child’s profile and potential issues that may arise in the future.

... but I do think it's valuable to be able to make dry profiles more real, where it's appropriate to do so.

Congratulations on the match, OP.
