Got our first independent reviewing officer visit tomorrow.
Any pointers what to expect?

Thanks,

They just checked the sw were doing their bit and the only thing they asked me was if I had registered with doctors and dentist etc.
It was more a check up on sw than anything so don’t stress about it.

Do they do a check after so many weeks of placement?

It will be fine 😊

They will want to check that you are all getting on well and accessing any support you may need. They will want an update on legal positions, to check that SWs are where they should be and they will probably ask about dentist, doctors, school etc.

They are very likely to be thrilled that your LO has found an adoptive placement 😊

Yes @Runner31 I don’t know if it differs between different areas but ours have three weeks post placement to do an initial review

@Runner31 there are legal requirements for looked after children reviews taking place. First one has to be within a month of a new placement, the next is 3 months later and then it goes to 6 monthly until the placement is ended because an adoption order has been granted and so the child is no longer under the care of the placing authority.

@topcat2014 They might mention about the need to write a settling in letter for the birth family which is similar to those you'd write for letterbox contact.
