Activity day match

We attended an activity day today to meet a specific child. We found him on linkmaker and have exchanged reports etc. His social worker is coming to visit us on Wednesday but as he was already signed up for the activity day a while ago, they asked if we wanted to come and meet him. He's just amazing and has stolen our hearts. Now praying that this meeting on Wednesday goes well. Send some positive vibes my way please Smile

Fingers crossed Poppet xx

How exciting to go to an activity day with a match in mind?
We went to a couple, enjoyed them, expressed some interests, but nothing further happened.

Sending vibes.

Sending you lots of love and positively. We are hoping to be linked with a sibling pair however our social worker (new) is saying its going to be long. No reason for it and I get the impression she wants to feel important, child's social worker wants to meet us so we're holding out for that. I know it's hard and it's so lovely to see positive posts. Keep them coming. Wish you all the best xxxx

Thanks everyone. We are excited but understandably very nervous. Any tips for the meeting would be much appreciated. Going to have another read through the CPR tonight and have already put together some info about amenities in our area for toddlers.

I don't have any experience but I would have thought anything that showed you had really thought about the individual child would go down well. Questions like "I've read this in the CPR and was thinking we could do X to help with that - what do you think?" "I thought we could really help with that by using X facility." "I can see dealing with this (from the CPR) might be stressful so this is my support network/plan for if that happens". Hopefully show not just why you'd be a great parent (which I'm sure you will be) but a great parent for THIS child.

That's brilliant advice HPFA. Thank you so much and I'll definitely try and do that.

Oh wow that is great. Many congratulations x

Congratulations, how exciting. My only advice from friends who have been through this is to take a deep breath before each question you are asked and don't be defensive/offended if any negative comments during the panel (they are amazing parents now but it was hard hearing a social worker criticising them). Loads of support from family and friends, and get plans in place because if it's a yes things move quickly! Once again congratulations, it's an amazing way to make a family, looking forward to it being me!
