Hi, please can anyone help with what to expect at the first home visit? Is there anything that I should specifically prepare for or be aware of that they might speak to us about? Thank you.

I really panicked about ours but it was just like having a friend round for a chat. She had a quick look round the house and we talked about where the children would sleep. She observed the dogs when she came in and what they were like in the house and we chatted about infertility, why we want to adopt and what to expect from the process. It was very relaxed and we found out that day that the SW doing the home visit would be our social worker. She left forms and information on our profile so we could get started on it.
Good luck. X

Thank you. That's helpful. I know I'll be cleaning and tidying like mad the day before. I hope it's relatively informal, I'm not good at 'interviews x

I remember the family finder and kids' social worker coming round. They had a mooch around the place and like Runner31 said it was like a friend coming round for a chat - they showed us some up to date pics of the little ones and we spoke about how they were doing in care. I think it's just to get a feel for you in real life rather than a profile on paper and to imagine the kids living at your place. You've gone through social workers and panels, you'll be grand. Keep us posted!
