Questions for panel

Hi everyone,

Myself and my partner are going to panel next Monday and we read that we will be asked if we want to ask a question to panel, what did everyone else ask them? We are struggling to think of anything but don't want to not ask anything and look like we are uninterested.

I can't remember asking panel anything, I was too busy making sure I had my answers for the questions they were likely to ask us!

That's why we wanted to have a question up our sleeve so when we know the questions they will ask we can focus on them. Wink

We weren’t asked if we had any questions. I’m not sure what we could have asked them as all questions about potential child, birth family and the process would be answered by SWs. I’m not sure what else there is to ask...?

I wouldn't try and pre-plan anything too much. You will be with your SW, who can always prompt you a little bit.

I don't recall asking any questions of the panel (for approval) to be honest.

Yet to go to matching panel.

We didn’t ask any questions at approval panel, by that point there wasn’t anything we needed to know that our SW hadn’t covered.

We've got our panel tomorrow and to be honest i wasn't planning on asking any questions. If i did then i think they'd probably be questions better suited for our social worker anyway. I've not done very much interviewing in the past but I'm always impressed when you ask if they've got any questions and they confidently respond, "no, I've got everything i need" etc.! But maybe i just like things succinct! Good luck next week!

We didn't ask any questions. Our social worker told us it's not a job interview where you feel you need to ask something. Only ask if you do genuinely have a question. I guarantee you'll just be glad to get out of there and get an answer! Smilegood luck. I'm sure you'll be fab.

Thanks everyone. We just didn't want them to think we weren't prepared. But we could not think of a single question to ask them as we don't know them and nothing you could ask them would really be relevant.

We are so nervous as its been a 3 year process due to my other half being sick with gall bladder problems so it all got put on hold.

So we had our panel today (passed, woohoo!) and at the start the chair panel specifically addressed the issue about us asking the panel questions. He said they're obliged to ask if we have any, but the vast majority of people don't have any so don't worry about feeling like there's something you must say. He also stressed that the panel in general is definitely not an interview - their questions aren't a pass or fail. Rather they're just trying to get a bit of colour to the black and white sketch your social worker has drawn. I'm sure you'll be great!
