Talk to me about matching

We attended an activity day recently, and have expressed an interest in my future many children.

What are the mechanics now?

We know our PAR has been sent to the children(s) workers but have no idea what may, or may not, happen from hereon.

Hi I am not a adopter but used to work in the field
The child's SW will read your PAR and if interested will talk to your SW. If they both feel it is a good potential match then (depending on what order the agency does things) potentially the child's SW will come and meet you to talk in more detail and if all parties (including you) think it could work a formal link will be agreed (procedure for this varies per agency).

A matching panel would then take place and if successful intros would then start (order of this again will vary by agency).

Be prepared waiting to hear back from the child's very busy SW, scheduling meetings that work for all involved, planning arround the child's needs and possibly other factors in the foster placement as well as any legal issues will make this a slow process and I would assume months not weeks.
Good luck.

I've just started the whole ' matching ' waiting game too! ( I'm learning fast that I'm not good at waiting lol )
I heard back from 1 last week that.... despite it not saying so on their profile... can't be placed in my area! Frustrating!
It's hard not to get over excited when you see an ideal match isn't it?!.. trying to stop myself doing the whole dreaming/ imagining/ planning ahead!

We're at the same stage and I'm not so good at waiting :) We are hoping for a sibling group of 2 and have 1 possible match but things are moving so slowly as they don't yet have a placement order.

It's definitely hard not to have them moved in in your head. We've stared to buy some bits and pieces and have decorated a playroom but it's all ground to a bit of a halt until we know some more. Keep having to remind myself to take a step back and wait and see what happens.

How did you find the activity day?

I would recommend an activity day to anyone - although I did wonder if I was going to blub when I found that one of the children whose profile I had already read was going to be there!

The first five minutes felt a bit surreal, then it settled into 'normal kids party' type thing.
