Hi there
Quick question - I just submitted the paper work for our adoption of our LO. The very lovely lady who took my payment of a whopping £170 mentioned that we could claim back the money from our adoption agency. Is this possible and if so has anybody done this? Our SW hasn't said anything about this and she's been fantastic.

Also whats a sort of time line to expect? I doubt it's efficient, just wondering!!

We got ours paid direct to the court, or they would never have paid! It was in the adoption plan document. Some authorities don't pay, though.

Hello, I paid the £170 and then got a refund a few weeks later. The process took just under 2 months from submission to final hearing ! Good luck x

We submitted ours in early December and have been told to expect a hearing date in early March. Our LA don't pay the £170, we paid ourselves and can't claim back.

We had to pay it ourselves, and the GP fee for the medical

We had to pay half our GP fee - it all adds up!

I also don’t enjoy it when people say to me: “it’s so worth it though isn’t it!”. Totally in the child’s best interest to have parents who can only afford to eat baked beans.!!!

I should say our social worker told us no money coming our way - apparently they used to pay but now they don’t!!
