Adoption card: would you like this or prefer one saying ‘congratulations’?

Some friends are adopting a two year old. What do adoptees think of cards that mention adoption on the front?

I personally preferred not adoption. There are so many cards out there with beautiful sentiments that you should be able to find one. Congratulations is fine.
That’s completely my own personal preference though. It’s lovely that you’re getting one, we have treasured ours.

I was thinking that to be honest. I’ve seen some ones that say ‘welcome to the family’.

I had lots of adoption cards, I didnt mind at all - thats what I was doing. My son was 8.

But to be honest, many adopters find that their new arrival isn't marked in the same way a new birth baby is, so I think its lovely you are sending a card at all.
We had ones with all sorts of things on the front - they are all in a special album which we still get out occasionally7 years on

I can't think anyone would be offended if the word adoption is on the card

We will hopefully be adopting a second DC soon (to go with one BC).

This child will be joining us aged about 4-5, and we will be proud to say that is by adoption.

It is not something we will be looking to minimise.

I wouldn't mind either way.
For a 2 year old I would maybe look in the 'new baby' section as you could probably get a 'Congratulations on your new son' or similar that don't have a baby on the front or use that word.
Sending a card and marking the occasion is important.

Thanks all. Looking on etsy now.

Moonpig (and other sites where you can customise the card) is great if you can't find a suitable "Congratulations" or "A new son!" type card

The only thing to avoid, IMHO, are the cards with things like storks or very baby themed (nappies and bottles, type things)
