Good morning!
After being questioned on the future of adoption support fund for the next five years. The secretary of education was unable to guarantee its renewal after 2020, stating it would be subject to government spending review.
I'm a mentor and provide support groups for adoptive families in my region. This fund has helped every single one of the families I support,
Including my own.
Our children are now able to access desperately needed therapy which without the fund is unaffordable to many at around £100 an hour weekly. I have two children so this would be £800 per month that we just don't have.
The therapy is vital for children with attachment disorder and other issues which arise from adoption. Therapy is a preemptive measure as without therapy our children will need
Input further down the line, in education. With CAHMS and the Heath service.
I'm penning a letter and sending it my MP who hopefully will bring this issue up in question time.
I'm asking if anyone is willing to send a copy of the letter to their own MP, the more we reach the stronger case we have. Please PM me for more info.
