Childcare experience when working full time

Hi,
I have had our first call with our LA today about my husband and i adopting, we currently also have a son who is 2.5. The LA recommended my husband get more childcare experience to show her can bond with children he's not related to. He works full time and wasn't keen on beavers/scouts... is there anything else other people have done and enjoyed which can be done around a 9-5 job?

Helping at local kids football or rugby?

I work full time (we have a DD/12) - and am now actually a Beaver leader.

Whilst I viewed it as a chore before I started, I do actually really like it now. The kids are lovely. I am not the only male leader.

TBH I couldn't think of another option - as have no sporting talent whatsoever.

Even though we are now at approval stage etc, I am carrying on with Beavers!

Do you have any siblings/friends with children? If so just make them lunch and have them round - or go to theirs for an hour.

I find it absurd that you would need experience of childcare when you already have a birth child. I could understand experience of SEN/EBD children, but not just children in general...

The child you adopt would be part of your family - why do you need to bond with children outside of your family? Annoying!

My friends joined a charity called befriend a child. It was about taking a child out at weekends who has difficult home circumstances eg a sick parent. Something like that?

Does he get voluntary days OP? We did song, rhyme time at the local libraries which was an hour a weekday during term time only. Was able to fit this in around working full time and fulfil their condition.
