Positive F2A Stories

Would anyone like to share their positive foster to adopt story? I am in the middle of the fostering phase, pre-placement order. Feeling a bit anxious and fed up of going to and fro from contact. My little girl is amazing and I know F2A is best for her so I will keep going but could use some positive stories to keep my resilience up! Also how long did people wait between baby coming to you and placement order being made? Feels like a lifetime! Thank you!

It was 5 months till placement order, and 6 months till AO was finalised. It felt like forever though - I always loved my son so much and was terrified of losing him. I just remember feeling huge waves of relief when the PO was made.
I think knowing that F2A was best for him did keep me going. I tried really hard to just concentrate on him and enjoying time with him rather than obsessing about things out of my control (very hard to do). Hang in there!
Feel free to pm me xx

Sorry and positives: my baby is 2 in a few months - very happy, bubbly, determined and strong-willed, he's a complete pleasure to be around and a joy to parent (still hard work of course). Being with me since day one means he is very securely attached and has only known me as his parent.

I waited six months. Then another six months to get the adoption order. Been part of the family of sixteen months now and he is thriving. A secure attachment to me, my oh and his brother. Also building good relationships with extended family. FtA was definitely the right decision for my son and for all of our family.
I'm sure your doing a great job and in the end it will be worth it x

Thank you both! You have really cheered me up Smile I just need to focus on enjoying each day with her. It looks like she will be 8 months before PO done so quite a long wait but it will be worth it. I firmly believe it is best for her, particularly in terms of attachment, so worth all the worry so she doesn't suffer.

We got DS at 2 months and P.O. was completed fairly quickly after. When he was 9 months he AO had gone through. Best and scariest thing we ever did. Our SW told us that if we hadn’t gone through the FtA route with him (they said he could stay with his FC if we didn’t want to risk) and go for a ‘normal’ adoption he’d have been 9/10 months old by the time we got to meet him. So glad we took the risk and had those wonderful early months for so many reasons. Good luck, best thing we ever did! X
