fostering questions

Hello. My dh and I have been considering fostering for a long while now, but have never really been in the right position to give our full attention to this.

Things in our lives have changed for the better and we are in a position that we can begin to look at fostering.

I have looked at a couple of sites about the process and was wondering about the medical side of things. I have had a lot of problems with depression - and I'm being treated for mild bipolar (although this is not at all severe).

Would this be a problem with my application??

Thanks, in advance for your help.

Flower here, sorry only just seen this. How can I help.

My Dh and I have been foster carers for 20 years next month so I'm glad to offer any advice I can.

Your medical condition will probably be considered although I can't see it ruling you out.

At some point during the assessment process you will be asked to undergo a medical, this is with your own GP, and any health issues are usually dealt with then. It may be worth ringing your local fostering department and asking to speak to a social worker, ie ask them what health issues would rule you out.

Please feel free to cat me or I can give you my email address if you'd like.

Hi Flower. Thanks for the advice. I'm glad it doesn't look like my medical background will be a problem.

This is something I have been considering for a long time now, although I can imagine it being very hard sometimes. It would be nice to discuss the whole process with someone who has been through it. Hopefully I could bother you with my mundane questions, if you're not too busy!

my email is daisyduck772004 at yahoo couk

Thank you again for your help. Chat later x
