First trip out

So today was our first solo trip out as Mama and daughter(17 months). 🙈🤦‍♀️
So far we have had 3 melt downs, been shouted at by a woman in a cafe for not being able to 'control your child!' And lots of tears(most of them from me back in the car). Glad I can laugh at myself in these situations! Please tell me your horror/hilarious stories so I know I'm not the only one!!!

My DS arrived at 8 months so probably slightly easier than 17 months! He’s now 20 months and during a tantrum last week at the checkout in Asda, he was crying, I was trying to soothe him.....I went in to give him a kiss just as he sneezed (which he often does when crying) and he covered my face in snot. And I really do mean COVERED! The man at the till looked at me and said, ‘urgh, gross’. I had nothing to wipe my face so had to do it all over my sleeve. He then said, ‘that’s also gross’. I did laugh!

Just taken my two out into park across the road with scooters, so no double buggy back up!! Littlest decides she will have a meltdown because I don't have three arms and can't carry her and two scooters as well as holding eldests hand. So we all sit down on the ground to wait it out, Conker hunting and the trees whispering to us was not enough of a distraction, we only got moving again when I suggested that we should leave the scooters behind.

Swings and roundabouts - sometimes I think this parenting lark is a breeze and i manage to child wrangle quite proficiently, other days, getting them to put their shoes on nearly drives me tears!!

First solo trip out with toddler DS when DH has gone back to work after paternity leave. Dropped his football down the steps from the front door, it bounced into the road and was nearly run over by an angry motorist. DS wailing because his beloved ball appeared to have gone! Managed to get him and nappy bag and retrieve ball and cross road to where my car was parked. Banged DS's head off the door frame whilst trying to put him in the car seat! Eventually got my shit together enough to drive us to the park for a kick-about.

Also I quickly stopped taking DS to the corner shop in his buggy because I couldn't steer it tightly enough to get round and used to get wedged on the ends of the aisles, or bump into stacks of cans and boxes! Felt like such an imposter to start with but it didn't take long to gain confidence.

Thank you ladies! Guess we all have those days! At least I can laugh about it now hahahaha. Yours all did make me smile! Xxx

Can’t believe someone shouted at you! It is, of course, impossible to control a 17 month old!

I took our eldest baby (2.5) out on my own during the “at home” part of the introductions to get the foster carer a gift bag for her “thank you” present. Only to Asda, nothing crazy, how hard could it be? Surely you don’t need a trolly to run in and out?

Wrong

My baby had a melt down. Of course the gift bags are RIGHT NEXT TO THE TOYS. A 6 pack of small bouncy balls capable of choking our two babies was the object of said meltdown. I ended up picking her up and walking out with a crying toddler.

Not successful.

We have been to Asda since. In a trolly. Every time.

Barbadosgirl- she was very cross that little one was crying. I had bought a biscuit but lo kept dropping it and this caused a total meltdown. I can now manage my emotions(after a few days hahahaha) and keep thinking wow she must have been having a rubbish day to shout at a Momma and baby about baby crying!!!!!
Trolleys in all supermarkets are vital! I learnt this in Aldi when with mum - even with 2 of us no trolley was a big challenge!!!!!💜
