Hi all
I've been lurking for a while. Thanks for all your posts they've made good fodder for me!
After 18 months we were approved last week.
So excited for the next chapter.
Anyone else at matching stage? X

Congratulations. Well done. Xxxxx

I see it took longer than the 'official' time?
We are hoping to finish Stage 1 after 4 months shortly

Madelinea · 02/04/2018 21:34

Our stage 1 took 9 months. Our social worker misplaced documents etc and then said they had never received them......
We switched to a different sw for stage 2 which has had delays (partner had an accident which required intensive care stay and they needed medical notes) too but finally it's done.

Congratulations.
We found the waiting bit hardest as there is very little you can actively do to move things on.
What sort of age are you hoping for?

CharlieSays13 · 03/04/2018 12:00

Congratulations! We've been tentatively matched but not quite approved yet...soon hopefully.

Madelinea · 03/04/2018 12:05

Thank you all, the waiting is so hard!
Our matching criteria is quite broad, we have been approved for foster to adopt and siblings of up to 3.
I think our sw has had a child/children in mind since we first met, just feeling.
We have a meeting later today and Friday.
Exciting times!

And we've been matched! Matching panel in May. This is crazy!

Congratulations!

Now is the time to:

  • do any clearing out you've been meaning to do for years
  • go on a last holiday alone (or at least a weekend break)
  • meet up with those friends you've been meaning to catch up with
Dumbo1981 · 08/04/2018 11:32

Congratulations. Have you been matched with a single child or a sibling group?
Exciting times!

Jellycatspyjamas · 08/04/2018 14:34

Oh how lovely - I remember those crazy days knowing you’ve been matched and waiting for panel. Declutter as much as possible, then chuck out some more stuff, have a nice break away if possible and sleep. And enjoy the anticipation of what comes next.

DLouise2004 · 08/04/2018 15:26

Such fantastic news - I can't wait to get to this point! X

Madelinea · 08/04/2018 17:27

Thanks all.
We have had quite a long journey so gave decluttered everything to keep ourselves busy.
We have been matched with a sibling group!
We did a celebratory glamping last weekend as that's our style and we can't wait! X

That's exciting @Madelinea do you know the ages of the sibling group? Do you have bedrooms ready etc? X

Madelinea · 08/04/2018 18:30

They are 2, 3 and 4 and bedrooms are blank empty slates at the moment!

Wow going for 3 @Madelinea that is so wonderful! Had you stated a preference on how many you wanted to adopt?

You must be excited about decorating their rooms and meeting them! X

Madelinea · 08/04/2018 18:37

We were approved for foster to adopt and a sibling group of up to 3. We had always imagined a sibling group! We don't want to go to wild buying things in case it doesn't go through. But we are pretty sure it will. It's very exciting.
What stage are you at?

OP posts:
UnderTheNameOfSanders · 08/04/2018 18:40

That will keep you busy!

Removable wall stickers on neutralish backgrounds worked really well for us. DD2 (now 13, 2 when placed) started with Winnie the Pooh, then Disney Princesses, and more recently butterflies.

Hope you've got a big car! Smile

DLouise2004 · 08/04/2018 20:45

That's sounds sensible @Madelinea . We shave only just registered so a long way to go for us but am excited to start the process x

4april2018 · 09/04/2018 19:17

Hi like you it took us about 18 months to get to panel, we got matched for a group of 3 last week. It hasn’t sunk in yet!

Madelinea · 09/04/2018 21:58

This is fantastic news. So worth the wait. Good luck for the next chapter. What's your timeline looking like now? Matching panel and intros etc? X

OP posts:
Madelinea · 09/04/2018 21:59

What are their ages? X

OP posts:
4april2018 · 10/04/2018 07:35

Hiya still waiting for timeline, intros are proposed as follows: the eldest one first, she then moves in for a month (during which time we have twice weekly contact sessions with the little ones. Then they move in.

Big girl is 3
Twin boy & girl are 2

It’s going to be crazy Wink

Madelinea · 10/04/2018 16:07

Argh how exciting for you, would you like to keep in touch? Sounds like we are going through similar journey? Are they in seperate foster care at the moment? X
