Just posting for support really....
We have been told there is a baby we have been matched with....but alongside another family....
Last week (Wednesday) we met the child's SW, the family finder and our SW, found out everything about the baby, and they showed us photos.
All through the meeting the baby's SW kept saying she was happy to proceed with us, but our SW and the family finder kept saying 'if' we were selected. This happened all though the meeting, they were saying 'when you have x you'll have sleepless nights' etc, and similar 'future situations', but then bought it back to 'if' we got chosen, and when they left we were quite confused.
The next day we were told baby's SW liked us and wanted to go ahead but that they 'might' have to still see this other family so there's no favouritism, and so they are shown to be 'fair'.
It's now a week on from our meeting, we still don't know if we have been 'chosen' and our SW keeps saying the same thing, that they are finding out if the other family do have to be met etc.
Is this normal procedure? I completely 'get' that there could be more than one family put forward, and the child's SW needs to meet each one of those, but there's just been a lot of 'not knowing' and not really moving forward. If someone said 'they're meeting x family on x date, and we'll have a decision on x' I might be able to deal with it a bit better, but we just feel in limbo a bit.
Obviously we have been through the whole (sometimes frustrating and slow) process to get to this point, but I wasn't prepared for this. Is this the norm?!
