Adoption

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on adoption.

What does this mean?

After starting the process the LA emailed me this:

Due to our process of checking our database for previous enquires or cases, we have found a record for (my maiden name). In view of this we would like to meet you to discuss this record so we are able to process you adoption enquiry further.

What database do they search? I have never enquired to adopt before, I have no idea what it could be?

Any ideas?
Thanks!

Maybe a better question would be what information does your local council hold on you that would come up on a search?

I don't know. Is it possible someone with the same fore and maiden names as you has had ss involvement and they just need to clarify you are not her?
Could it be possible that you were known to
Ss as a child?
I guess it would be there own database that is checked. Not sure though.

My guess would be someone with that name had applied or been involved with SS previously.

I have a really unusual uncommon name so I didn't think it would be that?

Even though uncommon I suspect that is the likely reason

Someone has reported something at some point, and SS took it no further. Could even be about you as a child.

Or you made a quick inquiry about adoption, fostering, or being a childminder, 6 years ago, and you've forgotten.

I think it's likely you, rather than just someone with your name, as they'd check DOB.

They check your whole life, even the bits you didn't know you had! Try not to worry, I'm sure someone can tell you on Monday.

Bumblebees16 · 28/01/2018 11:14

Yes I thought they had my DOB so it couldn't be someone else. Not sure about anything as a child so I'll just wait and see what it is. Thanks

I'm sure it will all be ok.

monkeytoad35 · 29/01/2018 13:03

Did you find out what it was?

Bumblebees16 · 29/01/2018 15:32

No I haven't found out yet. I phoned and the person I spoke to didn't know. So won't find out until I go and meet one of Adoption team.

Could you be being traced by someone? And it's flagged up? Hope you find out soon and is nothing too serious. Good luck Hun

Hope you've got to the bottom of it Bumblebees and that it wasn't anything to worry about.

It was something to do with school.... I have no idea about it and it seems like I was included in it because of my old group of friends and the stuff they did. They said it wouldn't effect it but I'm mortified by it and abit annoyed that's it's on there without my knowledge or my families... it's seems it got done without anyone knowing. And the stuff written on the report they had is completely fabricated! So I don't know where they got the information.
