Had my medical today (light hearted..)

Had my medical today. Dr said I was slightly over weight, so, of course, since returning home I have done nothing but eat.

Also, had 'stage fright' and couldn't produce a urine sample on demand.

Needed to return to the waiting room for a rest, and then try again.

A bit TMI at tea time, but even the Dr talked about all the hoops you have to jump through.

I’m more than slightly over weight and the doctor didn’t bother to mention it! Yeah there are many hoops to jump through, you will hear that a million times before you finish the process!

My doctor found an enlarged thyroid and notes that while it was the only thing she found, it was the only thing the form didn't ask about! (It just caught her eye).

I was also more than a little overweight!

BangPippleGo · 16/01/2018 19:44

My BMI was 36 at my medical. By the time of my approval panel I had brought it down to 33, which my SW put in the PAR, and the medical advisor congratulated me on it and that was the only mention of my weight at all! Also they didn't check it had come down, just trusted my word for it!

Ooooh, what’s the urine sample for? I usually have a safety wee if i’m in a waiting room for more than two seconds (bladder of a gnat!) so that’s handy to know

topcat2014 · 16/01/2018 22:13

Iggy, I guess it was diabetes or something. The funny thing was I had been holding off coffee all morning to keep blood pressure down.
Normally I drink gallons..

I just felt such a pratt - all sorted in the end though.

We had to pay about £95 each too.

@BangPippleGo
"My BMI was 36 at my medical. By the time of my approval panel I had brought it down to 33..."

What did you do to get it down? Please don't say eat less and move more!

BangPippleGo · 17/01/2018 06:27

Italian ate more and moved about the same Wink started keto which has always worked for me!

Italiangreyhound · 17/01/2018 08:04

Keto?

BangPippleGo · 17/01/2018 08:40

Ketogenic diet - low carb, moderate fats and proteins Smile

I have my medical on Friday and my bmi is 37 so I'm worried that's going to be an issue. I have lost almost 2 stone in the past year but still a long way to go and it's coming off so slowly. I hope the doctor is nice as it's not my normal GP and I'm really nervous.

catlover1987 · 19/01/2018 11:22

Just back from my medical. Like topcat, I could not pee. Managed it in the end but was all over the place! How does anyone give a urine sample without Tupperware! You'd think I'd be used to it after 2 years of pissing on a stick!

In all seriousness though, was fine. More thorough than I expected but my GP was lovely.

topcat2014 · 19/01/2018 18:46

@catlover1987 glad it went well
