Intro video for baby

I've recently completed my part of Stage 2 (home visits, training, etc) and I'm just waiting for my approval panel at the end of this month. During the wait I've been finalising LO's room and I've also signed up to Linkmaker. Now I'm thinking about intros (I know, getting ahead of myself!) and while preparing an intro book sounds quite straightforward I'm far less clear on what to do for an intro video.

Firstly, I'm hoping to match with a young baby/toddler, to maximise the age gap with my 5yo BC. Has anyone else created an intro video for a baby, or would it typically just be for older children?

Assuming I'll still need to do a video - what should be in it?! How long should it last? What sort of thing should I say? In my head I kind of imagine myself, my BC and my dog standing outside our house; I introduce myself, my BC introduces herself and the dog, and then I run out of ideas!?! Do we dance a jig?! Grin

Any pointers would be most welcome...!

Good luck with panel!

We recently did an intro video for 12mo little boy (start intros tomorrow - eeeek!). We were advised by SW to do a video of us in his new bedroom reading a story to the camera. They suggested a book that has a chats get toy in it (e.g. Hungry Caterpillar) and then using the toy to play out the actions during the reading. We then bring the toy with us on first day of intros.

It was incredibly cringey but fun! Lasted about 2 minutes. Smile

Thanks for the tip, and good luck for tomorrow! So exciting!!! Congratulations!

Can I just ask - did you talk directly to the camera? Introduce yourself or say "welcome" or anything directly to the baby? I really like the story idea, just trying to figure out how to frame it.

Thanks!

Thank You!

Yes we said "hello X we are mummy and daddy and we are mummy and daddy and we are going to read you a story". At the end we said "we hope you enjoyed the story, we can't wait to meet You!" And blew him a kiss Grin

Not sure we said we are mummy and daddy twice Hmm clearly getting distracted by Black Mirror!

We start intros with our baby in 5 hours! Been wide awake since 4am. We didn't do a video but prepared lots of photos. Laminated some, added to a photo cube & got the Lamaze talking butterfly which is an interactive toy that you insert photos into its wings & record short messages onto. All went down very well at Matching Panel

We did a video of each of us - just our faces really - we looked side to side and said "Where's Jane*? Where is she? Is she over there, no." And then looked straight at the camera and with big eyes and a big smile said "Oh look! There's Jane, there she is! Hello. Hello Jane, I'm Mummy."
*made up name.
It seemed a natural thing to do to me - what i'd do if i was meeting a friend's baby .

I've had the BEST day! Didn't want to overwhelm him so sat on the floor to play and mostly let him come to me. Twenty minutes in he leapt on me for a hug and gave me a big sloppy kiss. So in love!

We had an amazing day today, unforgettable. LO came straight to us, we played, gave bottle & lunch. Very contented LO. Foster carers brilliant, they really encouraged us to step in straight away. We both felt instant connection with her. Excited for the rest of our intros. Good luck everyone else

So exciting!! You both sound like today couldn't possibly have gone any better! Congratulations, and fingers crossed the rest of your introductions continues the same way!
