In Year school transfer for ex LAC

Hi

Has anyone ever done the above?

How does it work? Do you have to go where there are spaces, or does their ex-LAC status give them any sort of 'leg up' to get into the (primary) school you want (as it would with a normal admissions round to secondary for example)?

Thanks for any advice

From what I know, all LAC & adopted children get priority places into any school.

I think, although am not 100% sure, that being a post LAC pupil means that for the purposes of school admissions in year you can be considered as an 'excepted' pupil. What I think this means is that the school you choose should accept you irrespective of how many pupils are already in the class (so for example if you are looking for an infant class place the legislation is no more than 30 per teacher but I think you could be admitted as place 31). If your child is in year 3 or above where class size rules are less rigid I think this means that a school has to give you a place.

I'd suggest asking the question in the primary or secondary education sections on mumsnet as there are a couple of very knowledgeable posters - prhbridge and admission and tiggytape - who know lots about school admissions and could probably help.

Ok thank both - will repost in Primary Ed.

Happy New Year!
