Income support and adoption

As a foster carer I can claim income support when I have a child placed with me (regardless of their age).
Birth parents can claim (if eligible) income support until their youngest is 5 years old, then it stops,
Just wondering how it works if I adopt, will it be until the child is 5?
I’ve had a quick google search but couldn’t find anything.
Thanks

Yes, with an adopted child it's the same as a birth child in that you are able to claim income support (if eligible) until they are 5 but after this you are expected to be in work or if still on benefits you'd move to JSA I think.
