So the adoption order has been FINALLY granted and the celebration hearing booked. Paperwork wise.....what now? We have received 2 sheets of paper saying "adoption order" but that's it, it doesn't look very official. what paperwork do I use to get a passport ?

Congratulations Grin. For a passport, you need the new Adoption Certificate which replaces your DC' s birth certificate. Ours arrived via our solicitor.

Thank you! Did it take a long time to come? I'll have to get onto the social worker about this.

Congratulations!

Our court has told us we need to get the long adoption certificate from the general registry office.

You get a short cert in the post with a letter explaining how to order the long one. We did it over the phone and it came v quickly. Dont think you can get them from normal registry offices though ( but could be wrong ).
Congratulations btw x

congratulations!

There's a special bit of the Register office that deals with unusual cases like adoption - the good news is that it is more efficient and you shoudln't have to wait too long once you have requested the long version
