Transitions

Hi - We have been approved for a little while and are now linked. I wondered what people's experiences have been of longer transitions. Our children are both under 4 and 4 weeks is proposed.

Thanks for your help.

Congratulations.

We did 4 weeks with DDs 8 and 2.5.

The last week and a half included overnight stays of 1 night, 2 nights and 3 nights before finally moving in.

It was helpful for us, and for DD1, but to be honest, by the end, our poor DD2 didn't know whether she was coming or going. I think the only thing that kept DD2 OK was the fact that DD1 was always there as a constant.

Four weeks seems a very long time for two under 4yos, unless there is a very good reason for it.

I think it sounds a bit long to be honest unless they have been with their FC for over 18 months.
Our DD was 12 months and was very confused towards the end of the week we did.

sounds far too long....we did 10 days with a 3.5 yr old. that felt long!

It felt long when it was suggested and wasn't something either of us had heard of before. They will have been there for 18 months by the time transitions happen as due to various delays matching isn't happening until much later than we thought so with longer introductions won't meet them for another 3 months Sad our understanding is that the first two weeks would be two days in a row of spending time and playing with the children with Skype?! In between and then weeks 3 and 4 would look more like traditional introductions. unsure how the Skype will work as we haven't had much success with this when skyping distant friends and their children.

We did 2 weeks with a 4 and 5 yr old, it was too long. It became very confusing for the children who were bonding with us but we returned to FC house each evening and even though they were fantastic it felt like a step back inthe process each night.

If I were you I would request a shorter timeline or make sure you build in a review at end of week 1 to review progress then every week after that so you can build a case to shorten of it's not working
