I have no idea how many people are still around who would remember that thread but my baby started secondary school yesterday! Shock

School have been beyond brilliant with transition and today I got an email from his allocated TA to introduce herself and he has pronounced it as "so fun".

He is so handsome and so charming and tries so bloody hard to get stuff right. I am so lucky to have him.

I so want to attach a photo...

that's a lot of "so's"!

Any other secondary starters who struggle with transition?

Oh Lordy - I found it (under halloween name which was appropriate because I traveled on 31 Oct!)

I didn't know you back then, we had a little boy placed in June of this year but I've read all your posts and found them really interesting and inspirational! Glad secondary school is starting well! X

MoGhileMear · 07/09/2017 20:54

I remember your blog! He was a gorgeous baby, I bet he's devastating in a blazer!

RandomMess · 07/09/2017 20:56

@Kewcumber I remember that thread, I blinked, 10 years have passed...

What a fine looking lad Smile

PoppyStellar · 07/09/2017 22:58

I remember reading that thread when I first stumbled upon mumsnet adoption boards. So glad to hear he's had a good transition to secondary. Smile

Brilliant! Fingers crossed for continued smoothness.

And where have you been hiding anyway? I can't shift my 'I agree with Kew' tee shirts if no one knows who you bloody are!

Kewcumber · 08/09/2017 08:44

tdlr so sorry about the Tshirts - I told you they woudn't prove to be a wise investment!

I have been hiding in real life. DS has had a rocky few years but now has an EHCP which has helped and is hopefully making new friends and settling down in his new school as we speak.

I've also had a few work problems (work for myself) with clients I got too emotionally involved with and then went bust owing me money - accoutant heal thyself!

And my mum is ill.

Other than that all is well.

Maybe you could repurpose the Tshirts as washing up cloths?

Edit them to 'I support Kew'?

Sorry you're having a tough time (and on so many different fronts). Will keep fingers crossed for sunnier times.

He looks so handsome and grown up! Delighted to hear he's had such a good transition. Hope everything else improves soon. Flowers

gabsdot · 08/09/2017 09:42

He's a handsome kid. It's a bit day for him and you.
My son started secondary school last year. He's nearly 14 and I seem to see so little of him now, he's at school, training, with his friends. He gets the bus, goes to the shopping centre to hang out. He had a summer job and saved his wages to buy a phone. He's growing up. I'm SO proud of him.
We all just have the best kids!!!!

gabsdot · 08/09/2017 09:43

Big day

Kewcumber · 08/09/2017 09:49

tldr maybe you could use the adoption mantra instead "this too shall pass"

Or if you want to be really clever "this kew shall pass"

I've done a lot of adoption board browsing in the small hours when sleep wasn't happening for me me during adoption process and now while LO refuses to sleep just to be around like minded people. You were a constant on a lot of threads and I always wondered how things had progressed for you. Your son is a handsome and happy looking chap!

UnderTheNameOfSanders · 08/09/2017 14:03

He looks very smart!

This time last year my DD2 was starting secondary, she is at a really supportive school and the year went much better than I could reasonably hope. Hope it works out for your lad too.

badgerhead · 08/09/2017 15:25

I have been following your threads from the outset, as adult adoptee, rather than adopter. I am so please to hear that the transition to secondary school is going well. He is certainly a handsome young man.

ChoccyJules · 08/09/2017 22:38

Kew, really glad to know his transition to secondary went well. Hope your current troubles start to ease Gin Flowers

FoldedAndUnfoldedAndUnfolding · 09/09/2017 12:19

Such a gorgeous photo! Well done to him and you! What an incredible journey.

Good luck with all the other stuff that's going on. Hang on in there - real life just never gives you a break! This too shall pass...
